IST 4998 Advanced Community Praxis: An independent study centered on a student's engagement with and within a community context. The student's community engagement is the primary text, and learning is accomplished through the cycle of embodied practice, and critical reflection and evaluation focused on professional, personal, spiritual, cultural, and relational formation. The student and Director of the Office of Professional Formation co-create a formation plan as the framework for praxis.

Students may arrange an Advanced Community Praxis with the Director of the Office of Professional Formation. Advanced Community Praxis is not a substitute for Internship or CPE; as a supplement to the PPSF Curriculum it normally follows the successful completion of Internship or CPE. A background check is required. 2-4 credits, pass/fail.
