Additionally, you might consider purchasing a good, modern NRSV study bible such as the one below. The Jewish Annotated New Testament above will be sufficient, but if you don't have a Harper-Collins, an Oxford, a New Interpreter's, or another NRSV study bible, it would be a good investment. No NIV, NKJV, or other translations please!

Assignments and Evaluation

In addition to regular and robust participation in class (including posting questions each week), which is expected as a prerequisite for success, there are three assignments in this course:

A Philemon writing assignment, worth 20% of your grade
A set of essays due at the midterm, worth 40% of your grade, evaluated with the rubric provided
A set of essays due at the end of the course, worth 40% of your grade, evaluated with the rubric provided
