Jeffrey Mahan Ph.D. ( jmahan@iliff.edu )
Mahan studies the mediation of religion in material and digital cultures, religion as a sensual and bodily experience, and the implications of media change for the practice of ministry and religious leadership. He is also interested in the history of media and mediation and their implications for the religious communities and practices, with particular attention to the emergence of digital culture and the forms of religion in digital culture. He holds the Ralph E. and Norma E. Peck Chair in Religion and Public Communication.
Micah Saxton Ph.D. ( msaxton@iliff.edu )
Saxton is a historian of early Christianity whose dissertation explored the developments of Christian notions of self and scripture. His research now focuses on the theories and methods of digital humanities as applied to the study of ancient texts. He serves as Collections Development and Reference Librarian for the Ira J. Taylor Library at Iliff School of Theology.

There is no one Jesus. People have imagined Jesus quite differently from different historical and cultural locations. This interdisciplinary seminar introduces the graduate study of religion generally by looking at movies, art, texts and other cultural artifacts that portray Jesus specifically.
